A Memorial Day Wish...

I wish...

We had no need for military
We could have all of our armed forces home
No else would have to die in a war

Thank you to all who have served and especially those who have died in service to our country.

So many in my family have served or are serving:
2 nephews currently in the Air Force Reserves
1nephew currently in the Marines
1 stepbrother who served in the Air Force
1 stepbrother who served in the Army
Grandfather who served in WWII and Korea
Grandfather who served in WWII (he was on Wake Island when the Japanese surrendered)
Grandfather who served in WWII in the Navy
Father-In-Law who is a disabled veteran

My heart goes out to anyone who has lost a family member/loved one due to their service.

Our country isn't perfect, but at least we have Freedom... I have the freedom to post this on my blog and to voice my opinion.

Thank you.

Writing and Rewriting... It Never Ends

Just a short post today - I'm trying to work on Ragan's Song and it is slow going.

When I first start a story it just seems to flow and the words come easily. Once the first draft is written it's time for rewriting and editing - that's when the "fun" begins. Closing plot holes, fleshing out scenes, and adding/removing scenes. Once that process is done it will be time to edit, read through, and edit again.

So I'm off to write and rewrite... wish me luck!

Review Etiquette - There's A Right Way To Do It!

My reviews have moved to their own page on my blog - check out the Remenicky Writes Reviews tab.

Every so often my Facebook feed explodes with another example of hateful reviews that attack an author and serve no purpose other than to be hurtful.

Writing reviews isn't hard - writing a review that using constructive criticism can be. Here are some tips to remember:

1. First and foremost: Be Nice. Remember the movie Roadhouse? The most important part of the bouncer training was just that - be nice. If you don't like a book you can still be nice.

2. Only include comments on the book - don't badmouth the author just because you didn't like the book. Authors want to improve - if you let an author know what you liked and didn't like about a book it helps them improve the next one.

And that's it. Sounds simple and it is - be nice and only review the book, not the author.

What are you reading?

Until next time,

Happy Reading!

Rhett Cover Reveal

Rhett by J. S. Cooper Cover Reveal & Blurb

Have you met Rhett Madison?

I’m Rhett.
I’m cocky because I can be. I’ve got it all: the looks, the money, the endurance. I’m the guy that every girl wants to be with, yet none of them have ever been able to tie me down.
I don’t do love. I don’t do relationships. And I sure as hell will never do marriage.
I’m all about the fast life and everything that entails. There’s a different woman in my bed every week. My friends are jealous of me. My enemies envy me. Everyone wants my life. And everything in my life is absolutely perfect.
Until the day she told me she was moving away. She’s my best friend. She was my first kiss in grade school. We share everything with each other. We never dated because I don’t love her. I don’t care that she’s moving. I don’t care that she’s moving for a guy. I don’t care because I don’t love her. I don’t do love.
I’m Rhett and I don’t let anything get me down. Then one night changed everything and everything I thought I knew was called into question.
All of a sudden, being Rhett didn’t mean so much anymore.
