Igniting The Wild Sparks by Ren Alexander

 

This is the third book in this series. This story started in Chasing the Wild Sparks and continued in Daring the Wild Sparks.

 

Finn Wilder and Hadley Beckett are in love and Hadley wants to take that next step with the love of her life: marriage. After witnessing his parent's divorce Finn is scared of commitment. He loves Hadley, his "Becks", but he is terrified of marriage. Finn Wilder, the man who base jumps off of bridges, is scared to marry the love of his life. Hadley decides to take matters into her own hands and the story continues...

 

And I have to mention Rod and Morgan, these two add so much to the story and the interaction between all four characters is terrific. You have to read it to believe it.

 

I love these books but I hate the cliffhangers. I'm glad I'm reading them but, geez, I need my Finn fix!

 

I definitely recommend this book, but you do need to read them in order so go buy all three!

Why I Love A Happily Ever After

And they lived happily ever after... or at least until the next book.

The romance genre is filled with happily ever afters - they are what romance is all about. On some level I think everyone craves a happily ever after.

The lost dog finds his way home,

the world is saved,

or the couple in love works everything out.

 

Even on The Walking Dead - admit it, you were hoping Glen and Maggie would find each other!

Real life sucks. Reality is hard and we all hope that someday all the strife and hard work and sometimes the general nastiness of real life will be rewarded by our own happily ever after.

If a book ends and it's not a happily ever after it leaves me feeling unsettled. That's probably why cliffhangers annoy me and my OCD tendencies - everything should fall into place just like I want it.

That's why I like a HEA. Why do you?

Remenicky Writes Reviews - Crossing Tinker's Knob by Inglath Cooper

This will definitely be one of my favorite books of 2014!

Becca chose her life and is content until Matt returns to town after many years away. Two different worlds existing side by side - the world most of us think of as normal and the world of a religious order. Becca and Matt meet by chance and fall for each other.

Prejudice plays a part in an awful tragedy that has consequences years later when Matt returns to town for the funeral of his grandmother.

First loves, duty, and expectations combine for a great story!

You don't want to miss this book.

Remenicky Writes Reviews - The Forever Trilogy by Sandi Lynn

What do you get when you have a broken man and a girl with a secret? You get the Forever trilogy: Forever Black, Forever You, Forever Us.

From page one I was rooting for Ellery Lane and Connor Black. Connor uses women as merely a release until Ellery Lane hauls his drunk behind out of a bar one night.

Emotions don't play a part in Connor's rules and Ellery has a big secret, can they each put their past behind them so they can be together forever?

You'll have to read them to find out!

Definitely worth the price.

The Unreality of Fiction

"That would never happen in real life."

That comment (or one similar) has shown up in numerous reviews and I just don't get it. Isn't that the point of fiction - to take us out of our real lives and transport us to a different reality for a couple of hours?

For example: in The Collector by Nora Roberts the main characters meet in a police station where she is the witness to a crime and he is a suspect. Granted, the police would keep them apart in the real world but it's the best way for them to meet for the storyline.

Let me put it this way: do you go to the movies expecting to see reality? I would say "no" unless you're watching a documentary. Take the Die Hard movies for example. In what world would any of that happen (other than terrorists taking over an office building)? So what is so different about a book? As an author I try to keep my stories grounded in reality but, ultimately, it's all about the story - it's my story and it will be told my way.

I'm not saying they're wrong, I'm just saying that it doesn't make any sense to me.

Here is my question for the week: Do the books you read have to be "real"?

The Collector by Nora Roberts

I was ecstatic when this showed up on my Kindle yesterday - Nora's books never disappoint (at least so far)!

Lila and Ash meet under some very difficult circumstances. Burglary and murder ensue as Lila and Ash come to know each other and start to realize there is a definite spark between them.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat and I devoured it over two days. I loved the little side story of Julie and Luke finding each other.
